Tour de Yorkshire in Norton

After the success of Le Tour’s Yorkshire stages in 2014, this year saw the inaugural 2015 “Tour de Yorkshire” and as a bonus the route passed right through our home town of Norton.

It seemed like the whole town came out to watch and cheer the racers. Once we were in place on Commercial Street to watch the racers there was a very cheery atmosphere. So much so they started cheering anyone who came past on a bike.

The good humour continued with the numerous police motorcycles, who were in procession stopping traffic. The officers were greeting and cheering the crowd. Some real warm up men were at work and added to the crowd noise.

A breakaway group of riders had made a jump by Norton, and were about 5 minutes ahead of the peleton. I took a little video and eventually found Bradley Wiggins in the stream!
