BT Home Hub Firmware 4.7.5.1.83.8.94.1.11

Since I’ve been using BT Infinity I’ve been impressed with BT’s Home Hub 3 for it’s wireless range. It is by far the longest reaching wireless signal I’ve used, however;

The lack of control for advanced users that other routers offer is frustrating and now a new problem occurred this week.

The HH3 updates itself with the latest firmware – meaning I have no control of when to upgrade. Last week the “Version 4.7.5.1.83.8.94.1.11” was applied and my wireless devices performance was immediately terrible.

After a bit of investigation I found that the latest update has a “fix” which treats the Smart WiFi option differently.

I then switched my smart wifi off, and ran some tests to try and find an ideal fixed channel in my area. This got me back to normal operation.

God help the household with no IT expert in it!
