New years day
This is our dining room table on New Years Day. Still in a pretty state after all our festivities – which included the highlight of Monopoly!
Best wishes to everyone for 2012. XXXX

Netgear DGND33000 Wireless Repeating
I now have two Netgear DGND33000 ADSL Modem/Routers and bought the same models because I know that Netgear supports a Wireless Repeating Mode.
This means that in my office I have one DGND33000 hardwired to my broadband line, and also sending out a wireless signal.
I also am using another DGND33000 in the main house which repeats the wireless signal to the house – providing a signal to laptops and games consoles as well as any smartphone going.

Dave Walker Google search improved
Well since my last post about losing our status under Google search for “Dave Walker” I tweaked the website theme in WordPress and we’re again found on the first page in the UK.
Now that our WordPress theme is up and running properly, content should once more be king, so we’ll now target my home town of Malton, North Yorkshire.
Googling “Malton” on its own brings up many of the local business websites but Solar Polar doesn’t score highly at all and neither it should. I think by blogging about myself and the town goings on we can start to score in the top 5 pages within the month.
My aim therefore is to blog something everyday, and also fill up my portfolio page with some details to keep scoring high on both counts.

SEO experiment with Dave Walker on Google
Yesterday I met someone who had never Googled their own name. I was amazed because she’s a successful artist. You might think that she’d maybe like to see what articles were out there on the web.
That set me thinking about this website. Over the last month the Solar Polar website has changed and I’ve not really paid attention to any SEO simply because it’s not a priority here. This website is mainly a place for me to make notes and play on the web.

Netgear N300 DGND3300 DNS problem
Today I’ve upgraded the Modem/Router we’re using across the house because frankly the old one as rubbish.
I setup our new Netgear N300 DGND3300 (bought from Ebay for £40) and after putting in the ip address 192.168.0.1, changing the admin password, and entering my AOL broadband details the wired machines were up and running.
My Ipod was also using the wireless no problem, but we have 2 laptops which connected but no Internet connection.
I tried to PING the actuall ip address of Google.co.uk and it worked so we had a DNS issue.
To get it working I’ve updated the Network adapter TCP/IP settings (V4) so that they use the DNS settings 4.2.2.2 and 4.2.2.3.
Why would it work on wired connections and not on wireless?

Vision Cabin Bed Instructions
We bought a Vision Cabin Bed from Argos and put it together in a few hours thanks to the organisation of my wife.
Now though our little cherub is way too big for it and we’re dismantling it, and thought of sticking it on Ebay because it’s still in good nick and SOLID.
We’d lost the instructions for it though but thanks to Vicki from a forum she sent us them.
They’re attached below for anyone who wants them.
